What to do in Paleochora
Beaches
Every road leads to a beach in this town!
In Paleochora town you will find two beaches - one either side of the peninsula. On the west side you will find the long (approx. 1km) sandy beach, and to the east you will fin the pebble beach. Both town beaches have nudist areas.
Outside of Paleochora, to the east 3km past the camping site you will find the beautiful Gialiskari beaches. To the west, 5km from town is the peninsula of Grammeno and a little further out is Krios beach.

Hikes & Excursions
The natural surroundings of the area makes it very popular with walkers, and whatever your personal ability, you will find something suitable.
For example, there are gorge walks - the famous Samaria Gorge, the longest in Europe, as well as smaller gorges like the Irini Gorge near Sougia, and the local Anidri Gorge just 5 km outside the town of Paleochora.
Spectacular coastal walks - to the west, the beautiful lagoons of Elafonissi. To the east, the ancient site of Lissos and further to the town of Sougia. All these walks follow the line of the official E4 route.
